Driving Safely in the Fall

February 16th, 2008 . by John Dickinson

If you’ve ever seen commercials with a used BMW driving through fall leaves, you might be lulled into thinking there are no hazards associated with fall driving. Unfortunately, wet leaves on the road can be every bit as slippery as ice and snow. Anytime the tires of your car cannot make direct contact with the road, you chances of skidding are greatly increased. If you are driving on dry leaves, the situation is not much better.

Aside from this, fall tends to be the time of year when wild animals are migrating, or even trying to escape from hunters. As a result, they may run right into the path of your car. If you have ever hit a deer, or watched a collision involving one, chances are you will never forget it. Even though many localities post dear crossing signs, it is always best to take extra precautions.

Typically, cheap car insurance will not cover a collision involving a wild animal. You will need to ask the insurance carrier to include a separate rider for this type of coverage. Even though it may be a few dollars more every month, you will have peace of mind knowing that you can get your vehicle repaired or replaced. For the most part, you should be able to obtain this coverage even if you drive very old used cars. In addition, if you have car loans, chances are the automobile lien holder will demand that you have this type of coverage.

Everyone knows that there is so much famine and chaos in the world, despite the fact that they reside in a small and suburban home. Most people who live comfortably tend to forget about the needs of other because they are quite comfortable where they are. If you are one of these people, why don’t you stop and think about the car that you have lying around your space. It’s gathering rust and dust, with no use or whatsoever; well not unless you like annoying yourself with unwanted junk.

Consider participating in car donation programs, which are gaining a big fan base in the charity world. Vehicle donation is not only easy to do, but is also quite beneficial to everyone involved. Aside from the reward of feeling good after your donate cars that are not used anymore, you do not need to fix or pay for anything when you are making the automobile donation. The towing service will be free, and no need to haggle over the salesman about the value of your old car. You will have the choice about which charity program you will give your old car to. The worry about the people who will scrutinize your car will instantly vanish once you decide to give your car to charity.
